Imagine clickbait like the trailer for a super hyped movie. The trailer looks super exciting, shows you the best scenes and makes you think that the movie is going to be absolutely awesome. But then when you go to the cinema to see him, you realize that all the good scenes were already in the trailer and the rest of the movie is actually pretty boring.
Clickbait works in a similar way. You see a headline online that says, “You won't believe what this man found in his backyard! “and you think to yourself, “Wow, I need to see that! ”. But when you click on the link and read the story, maybe it was just a normal old shoe or something. The headline therefore promised much more than the story really says. The goal of clickbait is for you to click on the ad because it allows websites to get more visitors and generate more advertising revenue. They use your curiosity and sometimes your concerns or hopes to get you to click.
